Didier Daeninckx

Didier Daeninckx is a French author of romans noirs. Born in 1949 into a family of modest means, his work is principally orientated towards analysis and criticism of social and political affairs.

 

Daeninckx first gained notoriety with his second novel, entitled Meutres pour mémoire (1984). That same year, he attacked political corruption in Le Géant inachevé. In 1988, he published Le Chat de Tigali. The book was aimed at young people and denounced racism. Also in 1988, Daeninckx published La Mort n’oublie personne, a story of a young member of the Resistance condemned for murder after the end of World War Two.

 

His books have been translated into over twenty languages, and some have been adapted for television and cinema. He has also written series especially for television. These include Novacek (1994), A Chacun son tour (1997) and Le Premier qui dit non (1997).

 

Didier Daeninckx has won numerous awards, including the Paul Féval Prize for Popular Literature (Prix Paul Féval de littérature populaire) in 1994.
